DIY Easter Wedding Reception Ideas

Check out these home made Easter treats we found in Country Living magazine. Ideal to add that personal touch at your wedding reception, why not get friend and the family involved and enjoy making your own spring wedding decoration!

A Linen Box with Chocolate Eggs

1. Modern Nest.
Fill a pretty linen or paper-covered box with artisanal chocolate eggs. Try mini Cadbury eggs. Their candy shells have natural-looking speckles and spots (candywarehouse.com). To finish, tuck a small silk blossom in among the treats.

Almond Joy

Jordan almonds make an especially sweet spring decoration. Take a 12-inch Styrofoam wreath ($3.50; joann.com), and beginning with the inside circumference, hot-glue the almonds in place, overlapping a few of them to add dimension. Continue in a circular pattern until the entire front and inner and outer edges of the wreath are covered. Hang with a sturdy piece of cotton ribbon, or oversize rickrack trim as shown. To store the wreath, wrap it in paper, place flat in a box, and keep in a cool, dry spot.

Elegant Eggs

Make these pastel beauties last for years by first blowing out the eggs’ whites and yolks. (Need a refresher? Just insert a long needle into the bottom of each egg; make a small hole, then make a slightly larger one in the top. Move the needle around inside the shell to break the yolk. Blow over the smaller hole – feel free to use a straw if you don’t want to touch the egg directly – until the liquid drips out of the larger hole. Run the egg under water. Blow the water out, and let the shell dry overnight.) After coloring the egg, attach fabric scrapbooking flowers ($7/150; memoryvilla.com) with tiny dots of glue. Lightly press each flower with your finger, then release.

Felted Easter Egg Ornaments

Vintage Floral Brunch Invitations

Invite your guests to your spring wedding. Make copies of a vintage floral greeting card and print the wedding details on the back. Then adorn each guest’s place setting with a flower wreath. Thread faux-silk blossoms onto florist’s wire, and secure at the ends to form a circle.

Chick Gifts

Thank your guests with a jar of sumptuous gourmet jellybeans, tied with pretty ribbon and embellished with a downy feather. Or paint little eggs on a cardboard box, available at craft stores, and fill it to the brim with the recipient’s favourite sweets.

Make It Personal
Buy pretty containers that are small enough to customize. Then choose eggs in the recipient’s favorite color or flavor.
