Elly & John are such a fun, warm couple. This was our last wedding of the year and it ended on a high! Elly and John's Christmas wedding was held at Sherborne Castle.
We met Elly and the Bridesmaids in the morning at her parents house in the middle of the Dorset countryside. Elly wore a beautiful berry red dress, which had a huge black bow at the back. Her shoes were black peep toe heels and to compliment her 1950's vintage look she work a white bird cage veil.
Elly looked stunning and radiant and had a huge grin on her face all day! The Bridesmaids looked really stylish in black with their red rose bouquets. Each of the Bridesmaids wore a fur shrug to keep them warm on the way to the ceremony. A work colleague of Elly had leant her a beautiful vintage fur coat for the day.
During Elly & John's wedding ceremony they sang Christmas carols including 'Winter Wonderland'. Everyone also sang 'When i'm sixy four' by the Beatles. The songs were such a lovely part of their ceremony and put everyone in a festive mood!
Elly and John decided to have an intimate wedding inviting just their nearest and dearest friends and family. Following their ceremony canapes were served which included trout caught by both the Bride and Groom's fathers. The guests then made their way to Elly's family's local pub, which is known for it's delicious food. Everyone involved with Elly and John's wedding had a connection with the couple. Even the mini bus driver who took the bridesmaids to the Castle used to drive Elly to school when she was younger!

Elly and John are such a fun, warm and natural couple! They had a Winter wedding at Sherborne Castle complete with carol singing and vintage fur coats!
I love these two photographs. The first of the couple giggling during their wedding ceremony and the second of the couple with the lake behind them and the winter sun.
I don't think there is a shot of these two without a huge grin on their faces. More to follow shortly!

Following Rebecca & Giles' wedding ceremony in Part I at St Magdalene Church in Castleton we headed to Sherborne Castle for their reception. Sherborne Castle is an impressive building and is set in the most beautiful countryside.
Drinks reception was held in the Orangery, which is set in the formal gardens. We went off with the couple around the grounds, where we really were spoilt for choice with so many beautiful backdrops to choose from.
The couples evening celebrations were held in a marquee beside the lake. The Marquee was beautifully decorated by Giles' mum, who put flowers from her garden into vintage teacups on each table.
After the wedding breakfast and as the sun was setting we headed down to the boathouse beside the lake with Rebecca & Giles to make the most of the late summer light.
We wish Rebecca & Giles all the best and it was a pleasure to be your photographers for the day!

We arrived at The Eastbury Hotel, a Boutique Town House Hotel in the heart of the historic West Dorset town of Sherborne. Sherborne is picturesque and seems almost set in a bygone age; we always look forward to shooting a wedding there!
Nicola and Neil were such a fun couple to work with and obviously very much in love. We arrived at The Eastbury mid morning to find Neil putting the finishing touches to the Table Décor, making sure everything was perfect for his Bride to be! It is unusual for us to see a Groom take such care over the preparations and Neil certainly wanted everything to be just right. The couple spent a long time making their day personal and I think all their hard work paid off! Their wedding was full of sentimental touches as you will see!
I went to see how the Bride, her mother and Bridesmaids were getting along and joined them in their final preparations, which made for some lovely images, full of colour and emotion!
We then went to catch up with Neil and the boys before they made their way to the ceremony room to await the Nicola's entrance.
The ceremony was filled with laughter and tears. There was a beautiful reading from the father if the Groom to Neil and Nicola and Neil dedicated a reading to his Wife to be. This made for a lovely moment in the ceremony. It is unusual for the Groom to make a reading, but Nicola and Neil wanted their day to be personal.
The couple said their vows and exchanged rings and were pronounced Husband and Wife.
Followed by their Guests they made their way to the lounge to have champagne and for loved ones to congratulate them.
We then went into the walled gardens to take Group Shots and to capture a quiet moment with the newly weds, before dashing off through the town to Sherborne Abbey in a decorated Silver Mercedes, which the couple had hired especially for the day. Sherborne Abbey is an impressive building and made for a romantic backdrop for our Couple Shoot.
Once we returned to the Hotel we just had time to take a shot in the English Country Reception room before Nicola and Neil made their way to greet their guests before they were seated for the Wedding Breakfast. As you can see this flower filled room is beautifully decorated and has a typical Country English feel. I simply love it!
The tables were decorated with red and ivory Roses and Eucalyptus foliage and the Table Names were written on mounted photographs from the couple's travels.
We left the wedding party to enjoy their meal and the rest of the celebrations.

Add CommentSherborne Castle is a 16th-century Tudor mansion Southeast of Sherborne in Dorset, England. Built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 and the Digby family home since 1617, with lake and gardens landscaped by 'Capability' Brown, the Castle and Lakeside Gardens provide both a beautiful and historic setting for a stately home wedding. Sherborne Old Castle is the ruin of a 12th-century castle in the grounds of the mansion. The 1,200 acres park formed only a small part of the 15,000 acre Digby estate.
Described as 'A Wedding Day to Remember' Sherbrne Castle is a perfect setting for a 'Stately Home' wedding in Dorset.
This fairytale venue offers Civil Marriage Ceremonies, Civil Partnerships and Wedding Receptions in various different rooms licenced for ceremonies; the Solarium, Sir Walter Raleigh's original front parlour (seating 60 people) and the Tudor Entrance Hall (30 people) within the Castle, and outside, elegantly landscaped within the surrounding lakeside gardens, the beautiful C18th lakeside Orangery (80 people).
The Orangery is a short distance from the Castle and provides a light and airy setting for Wedding Receptions. It can accommodate a small celebration of up to 40 guests seated, but is most often used for larger weddings as the reception area to an adjoining lakeside marquee; this marquee arrangement can increase the guest number to approximately 200 people. Together with the Gingko Lawn and lake pier, the Castle and surrounding Gardens make this a truly romantic and magical setting not to mention a wedding photographer's paradise! Our Reception facilities are offered on a venue only basis, enabling couples to create their very own character for their special day.
